Our Abacare Awards celebrate the outstanding contribution our staff and carers make to the lives of those they care for and the services we facilitate.
The finalists will be invited to a special presentation event in the autumn and be presented with their awards.
The categories for entries are:
Carer of the Year
This award recognises the vital role of carers in providing quality care to the people we support. All nominees need to show evidence of dedication and a commitment to understanding what is important in the care of service users. Where appropriate career progress through training will be taken into account by judges.
The winner of this award will be a newcomer to the world of care and to the organisation. They will need to have demonstrated a love for the work they do and have shown great dedication from day one to those they care for. They also need to show how they have embraced their training and a desire to go further within the agency.
Care Operations Manager of the Year
This award recognises those who provide exceptional leadership and support to our team in the field. The winner will have demonstrated an ability to provide a high level of support to our carers and their colleagues through their everyday tasks.
Dementia Champion of the Year
This award will be given to an individual who has championed the person-centred philosophy for those living with dementia. The winner will be able to provide examples of how they have gone that extra mile to make a real difference to the lives of service users’ living with dementia.
Dementia Care Manager
This award will be presented to an individual who has pioneered the person-centred care for those living with dementia. All entries must include examples of how they have implement initiatives to make a real difference to the lives of service users’ living with dementia.
Administrative Champion of the Year
This award recognises those administrative staff, who provide outstanding dedication to our team. The winner will have demonstrated an ability to provide a high level of support to service users and their colleagues through their everyday tasks, alongside their commitment to development and an attitude to go the extra mile.
Lifetime Achievement in Care
We will present this award to those that have worked in the industry for more than 25 years and who can give examples of how their work has impacted positively on the lives of others whether those they have cared for or their colleagues.
Abacare Awards rules for entry
All entries must be received by midnight on August 31, 2017. Nominees must be happy to take part in publicity throughout the process including having their photographs taken and any social media activity.
Who can be nominated and who can nominate?
A nomination can be made for any individual currently working for Abacare. Nominations can be accepted from members of the public as well as colleagues.
Before you nominate
- The competition is open to all staff employed by Abacare
- Entries are treated in the strictest confidence
- Entries will not be returned and the judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- One copy of the entry form is required
- When nominating an individual for multiple categories, please complete one entry form per submission.
How to nominate
- Choose the category for which you want to nominate an individual
- Please complete the questions within the entry form
- All entries must be received by midnight on August 31, 2017 and should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Any entries received after the deadline will not be accepted due to the complexity and time constraints of processing.
The judging process
Abacare’s Directors along with a panel of other industry experts will select the finalists and the overall winners.
All finalists will be invited to a special awards ceremony in the autumn, at a date and venue to be confirmed, where the overall winner in each category will be announced and presented with their award.
